Nice, France

Nice, on the southeastern coast of France, is one of the jewels of the French Riviera, also known as the Côte d'Azur. With a population of around 340,000, the city is famous for its stunning seaside Promenade des Anglais, charming Old Town (Vieux Nice) with narrow lanes and colorful buildings, and a plethora of art galleries and museums, such as the Marc Chagall National Museum and the Matisse Museum. As a Mediterranean city, Nice enjoys mild winters and warm summers. The best seasons to visit are late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant, and the city is less crowded. Summer (July and August) can be hot and very busy with tourists; winter (December to February) is quite mild but not ideal for beach activities.
