Sapporo is the capital city of Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island. It’s well known for its beer, delicious food (especially seafood), and stunning ski resorts. The annual Sapporo Snow Festival in February features large snow and ice sculptures and draws visitors from all over the world. Winter is the most popular season due to the excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions. Summers are mild and pleasant, making it a fantastic escape from Japan’s hotter mainland.
